Thousands of people will be coming together on 30th June 2010 to celebrate the great things happening in communities across the UK at the ‘Redeeming Our Communities’ event in Manchester.

Manchester Sing Out Choir will be performing at this radical event which has been planned in the hopes that attendees will be inspired about exciting new project ideas being delivered, such as ROC cafe in Reddish, ROC Boxing Gym and Shine Your Light Campaign. Guests at the event will include Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Peter Fahy, County Fire Officer Steve McGuirk, politicians, and local Authority leaders.

Proud to have been invited to be part of an event of this magnitude, Manchester Sing out Choir shares in the events ethos to improve the lives of individuals by making communities ‘kinder and safer places’.

MSOC are pleased to be taking part and performing in a high profile fundraising event on the 23rd June. The event is being held in memory of the organiser’s sister-in-law who sadly passed away to Ovarian Cancer, as well as to raise £15,000 to support The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at The Christie.

Hosted by Michelle Keegan who plays Tina in Coronation Street, the event boasts a number of celebrity guests, musicians and a DJ. With fashion show sporting top name brands such as Vicky Martin Faison and TopShop, it is hoped that the money raised will get the organiser’s sister-in-law’s name engraved on a gold leaf on Tree of Hope in The Christies’ Garden.

The Tree of Hope was launched by the hospital to acknowledge tribute funds in memory of loved ones who have sadly lost their fight against cancer. The individual engraved leaves on the tree are a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who have raised substantial amounts of money.

Chantelle Codner, MSOC Manager said, “having personally lost a family member to this disease I can relate to the cause. Part of the choir’s ethos is to spread love, joy and peace throughout our community. We are happy to be involved in charitable events and raise the profile of such a worthy cause.”

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading Cancer centres treating over 40,000 patients per year. Based in Manchester, the centre is also a leader in cancer research.
